Ok im wondering to get a Gerber Fast Draw. Im 12. The Knife is a Assisted Opening. I was wondering if i can carry it with me? Am i too young. I would hate to get a criminal record on my record. I live in Los Angeles.
 
Honestly buddy, if your 12, you don't need to be walking around with a knife that's assisted opening. You would just be looking to get in trouble, just my 2 cents. :)
 
depends where youre from, also I wouldnt really take advice from the forum alone. Talk to a cop or a lawyer about it. Also, if you read the knife/weapons laws of your state you might find out quite a bit.
 
If your parents buy it for you, and you don't take it to school or wave it around on the street like some wannabe thug, I don't see a problem. If you get involved with the local Scout troop, that'll give you a more legitimate reason to carry a knife. As for a criminal record, if there is no criminal intent but the knife is considered prohibited, it will be confiscated and you may be placed on probation, but Youthful Offender status will seal the conviction. An assisted opener may tempt you to "show it off" to your friends, but word will soon spread, and authority figures will intervene. Showing off is immature. If you are immature, you have no business carrying any sort of knife.

I know that at your age you have a particular view of the world and think you are invincible and a lot of things are not fair. I was there too. Knowing everything and not taking advice that doesn't fit your views will get you in many jams until you are no longer a child. After that you are really screwed. Hard but true. If you are not looking for trouble then you should be more aware of your surroundings and life in general. The elements of trouble are all around you waiting for Murphy's Law to set you up and knock you down.
It happens far faster and oftener than you can realize.
Go with a 'boring' blade. 'Flashy' tends to find a way to be noticed.

and watch it with the girls too. Their dads are onto you.....;)
