Birds eye birch 3.3 ounces. 5 inches x 1 ½ x 1 inch. Extreme patterns and eyes. Some soft spots- bark areas have been resin filled and stabilized, but reduces value , while adding to distinct pattern change and look. Slightly out of square. Good piece for someone that wants the best patterns and figure at a reduced price, willing to work with it’s glitches. Would be $45, reduced to $30 Below is picture of the glitches

4 ¾ inches long x 1 wide x ¼ wide. Dyed and resin impregnated (stabilized). One side about 1/32 thicker - very slight taper. Price reduced. Good colors, very earthy looking with hints of reds greens blues. A center ‘eye’ through to both sides - well matched set $15

I have been finding cutting stabilizing my own wood now for about 2 years and getting better at spotting good wood , cutting true, and doing the dying stabilizing. Most of these came from the kantishna River, which is the back side of Denali park, about 300 river miles from civilization. Alaska wood in general grows slow, so has tight growth patterns for denseness and potential extreme patterns. These trees are growing on top of permafrost. Some are over 200 years old and just a couple of inches in diameter. One tree taken by a flood and found on a sandbar was over 500 years old. Normally 'birch' is not considered an exciting wood! But any wood is capable of conditions that now and then produce a rare interesting pattern. I hand select wood looking at many thousands of trees. This makes for a finished product that can be a conversation piece. Some of my wood has been triple soaked. baked, and triple dyed in three or more colors. I have other wood available including an under $20 section. Best way to buy is on my web site using pay pal.

Nice pieces Miles!
Glad to see your keeping busy Bud!!

Thanks! You mean busy 'and out of trouble'? ha! Yes the wonderful world of wood. Less issues then teeth and claws.

Those look very nice Miles, I think you've really got something there. They should really sell well. I'd like to see some in person if you want to bring some along the next time you come to town. Talk to you later, Mark
