Survival Kit Wood fired camping/survival stoves , rocket stoves , etc for fixed camp or vehicle camping . Not backpacking type .

Looking for advise and recommendations .

Thought I'd get one of those bucket style rocket stoves . :cool:

We basically live in the woods , so plenty of fuel just lying around .
 
There are a lot of good designs online that use an old propane tank as the host body, the sort of thing someone with a welder and some basics could knock together in an afternoon. There are also some designs using four-inch square tubing, though they are more of a cooking stove design. Probably the best commercial designs for just having a high-efficiency fire pit are the double-layered ones that generate an updraft, I've seen some that used part of a 45 gal drum as the outer shell. In any case, I'd see what your local fabricators are already making, as they will probably be more suited to your environment, timber, as well as being better and cheaper.
