Dennis, here is some interesting zebrawood on a fixed blade hunter. I think I prefer the grain to run horizontally, but this looks good as well.

lambertiana i have the twin to your 73 in ebony but spey blade is etched CKW series 2. latham told me it was some club marking but i forgot [as usual] the info. mine is 2007 & i assume yours is also. black mamba that is fantastic zebrawood, this wood in gecs has been elusive since most i've seen is dark as a cow pattie. although some people may think i have lots of knives, i only collect gecs not a whole bunch of different beauties. you guys sure have some fantastic wonders.

Dennis - My 73 is marked the same. It was a special run for Cumberland Knife Works, hence the CKW etch.

Lambertiana, I really dig the ebony knives. Classic, simple and real cooooool. Gotta get me an ebony fix!!

Mr Lamberiana. That was some nice knifes. The Puma prospector 667 I must say is my all time favorite slipjoint and the four star lockback was the knife of my dreams when I was a teenager an they still were delivered in the green plastik box.

IIRC- it was just two models that got that wood; both GEC 440c EZ opens, a spear blade and a sheepsfoot model. I don't recall seeing any other zebrawood from them.

thanks lambertiana, you know your stuff. although gec is new & not a big company ;we already have lots of little varieties & facts that require ones attention if collecting this brand.

That is the name of the retailer - Cumberland Knife Works in Cookeville, TN. Bill Horn runs it, he is one of the good guys.

I second that,

Those Ebony models are sure classy.

Nice!

And that. Ebony is making a comeback for sure. It's my favorite as of late. Any of you custom guys, What do you think an ebony knife would look like with a little ivory embellishment?

And I'm not complaining that it is being used. For a long time you just couldn't find it. And your request for the custom makers is the perfect segue for this:

The Ebony on that Queen Teardop you showed is delicious Lambertiana!

Let's hope Queen serve up the same with the Forum Knife, will be a knockout.

And back to the subject of wood handles - I lay the blame for this one right smack in the middle of Dennis' doorstep:
