Wood ID? This one has me stumped

Comparing this to more maple and from the many opinions, I would say the verdict is maple.
The burl caps here come from mill workers, tree service workers and burl hunters.
It is just too danged hard and dense to be Big Leaf Maple so maybe it came from a transplant in someone's yard.
