Scored this old craftsman off of craigslist, I already have a wood lathe but am 5 hours away in MD. Got this to make up the handles for some japanese kitchen knives and regular kitchen knives, doing the sharp square shoulder for the wood/horn bolsters. After doing a couple this way, it's incredibly foolish to try and do it any other way. Turn the whole thing round, shoulder, fit the drilled bolster, then return all smooth, drill and fit the tangs. easy to get the fits quite seamless. Not bad for 60$, plus a little wheelie cart, had the spur and live center motor and all.

Nice score! Be sure to check the taper on the head and tailstock, Craftsman lathes often used MT1, annoyingly, rather than much more common MT2.
