Hey guys,
A little while ago I posted on her and my questions were answerd with great detail so I have a new one. Where is a good place to get stabilized wood scales, burl, and natural wood knife scales? I especially am looking for ironwood and snake wood type designs.
I also was wondering if I should buy a block or blocks instead of scales, some scales just seem to be to thin to mak a nice handle. I don't know if the blocks come in pairs or not, if they don't is one block enough to do a knife or would I need to have two blocks?
Basically any info you can throw my way about using wood for handles and maybe what some of you guys use size wise and where you get it. Possibly some pictures of you guys don't mind so I can check some of them out.
Thank you guys in advance for any help you can offer, this site has been great at helping me in my venture into knife making.

A couple good sources are;
Knife and Gun finishing supply. They do all my stabilizing for me. On there web site they have stabilized wood at low prices.
and.....Alpha Knife Supply. Also good stabilized wood at low prices. The Bybees who own AKS are very nice people.
and...I get some good wood once in awhile.

I have purchased some really gorgeous Iron wood from Dons Ironwood and it does not need to be stabilized . One block should make two scales and when buying scales look for book matched sets.
