I am putting some cherry scales on a small fixed blade pocket knife. I have various oils, wood hardner. and briwax to finish it with. Which of those methods do you guys prefer? Or perhaps a combination of them? Thanks in advance for the input.

I've only used cherry one time, and that was long ago. If I remember correctly it would tend to split quite easily. It was a hard wood, but not too hard. If I were to use cherry again, I'd probably get it stabilized. That's just me though.

Forgive me, but the whole concept of a fixed blade pocket knife has me twitching a bit. I'm sure it would make perfect sense if I saw it.

I agree with Scott. There are a few woods that can be used unstabilized without shrinking, warping, cracking. I don't think cherry is one of them.

My 2 cents.

Rob!
