I picked up some white oak from a really huge oak tree that fell in the yard of the house my mom grew up in. She has really fond memories of that tree as a child, and I made the 6 hr trip up there to score some. I want to use some to handle her a chefs knife in for christmas. I need to know where I can send it to be stabilized so I can use it. All help would be greatly appriciated.... Thanks

It will need to dry and cure for a long time first. For an oak plank 2"X12"X4', I would say a year. You could cut a block 3X3X8" and try to microwave dry it. It has to be below 7% moisture content for stabilization.

BTW, Mike at WSSI won't dry it for you, and he won't stabilize it unless it is dry enough.
