wood Stabilizer vacuum pump?

you can use a HVC like you would use to charge a refrigerated air unit, or you can go to the auto supply store and buy a brake bleed hand pump, like you would use to get the air out of break lines. its a little work but I have gotten 15" of vac. I do it in a warm enviroment, then put it in the refrigerator. as it cools the vac will reach around 22 to 25"

also for the pot, i use 4" pvc, sch 40 it will hold the vac and is pressure rated to around 400# it will be marked on the side of the pipe.

I use that HF pump you hook up to the air compressor and it pulls 25" (so the gage says...) of vacuum using 90PSI. An electric unit is more convenient, but for $12.99 you can't beat it. You can take the HVAC fittings off and put on standard pneumatic fittings on the vacuum side depending on how you want to hook it up.

I bought a little hand pump thing from the Internet a couple of years ago for about $30. It came with stick-on check valves that can be used with jar lids.

I simply put Minwax wood and hardener in a large glass jar, pump it down to 29 inches of vacuum and let it sit for a day or two. Then I give the wood several days to thoroguhly dry out before working it. Works fine for me.

Here is the pump I bought: http://www.pump-n-seal.com/index.html
