Hey guys,
I just recently acquired some koa that I will be sending to K&G (hopefully tomorrow). I've never sent wood off to be stabilized. Am I being overly optimistic thinking I'll get the blocks back before Christmas?

Josh- that should be OK, but it might be close. I've sent them about 6 medium flat rate boxes of maple over the past 2 years and it's usually a few weeks to a month.
What did they say?

Billy, I haven't talked to them yet. Just got the wood in and picked out the pieces I'm sending out. It's probably 2lbs or so. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Mine took about five or six weeks but a portion of mine was dyed which takes quite a bit longer. Like BillyO said, it will probably be close.

Blessings,
Joshua

Ok, I do have one piece that needs to be dyed. No big deal, just hoping I could do something before Christmas.

It all depends on how dry it is (moisture content needs to be under 10%, better if it is under 7-8%) If it needs to dry that will add time.

The dyed piece will slow the order down.
My experience has been about 6 weeks for dyed, half that time for clear.
Don't forget to allow an extra 3 days each way for the post office.

I recently sent several boxes of wood. I asked the non-dyed blocks be sent back when finished and the dyed blocks sent later when they were ready.

Thanks Mark,
I think I'll just hang on to the piece I want dyed then and send it in with the next batch.
