Wood you use this?

I really like that. I have some scrounged oak 2x6 that are white oak. Maybe they have something good. Any tips for cutting them for effect

If you have the rayed oak, there is a definite difference between the two planes of the rays. Study it a bit and you'll see what I mean. Then cut based on what you want to show off most.
 
Yeah I agree, nice stuff. There's a lady that usually has stabilized oak at tannehill each year I always buy a fair bit of it, I think it's really underrated material. I guess "oak" doesn't have much cache, but it's a much more suitable handle material IMO than maple, and it looks super nice when you get some good figure.
