Wooden handled carbon steel knife

The tang while shorter in the triflex has no play due to the injected plastic handle.. the wood handled mora has space between the tang and the wood. which allows mor potential for breakage..
 
I'd second a look at Grohmanns. The #3 is my favorite for general use, and is available in carbon and stainless with flat or saber grind with wood, bone, or micarta handles. The tang is full length and width.
