Wooden Wednesday - Traditionals only please

Today the 28th. New wood on old wood, Ebony White Owl. Mental note to self, those window sills need renovating one rainy day.....

This arrived yesterday, is already in the pocket today :D I had a little buyer's regret over the weekend because the barehead does look better in this pattern at least from pics, but it blew me away as soon as I had it in hand

I got an old Camillus Timber Scribe, (didn't they also call them raze, raise, race knives?) Sorry but I only have horrible pics for now, I'll post those and take better when I get a chance. I took this one out today to mark trees in the woods/backyard to be cut for firewood next year.

This is popular mechanics definition in its listing of 8 most usual tools and their unusual uses...

Timber Scribe
Think of this one as an 18th-century Sharpie. During the heyday of timber framing, builders would use this tool to number beam ends for layout purposes—sort of like "tab A into slot B." If you're ever in an old house with exposed beams, look for gouged out Roman numerals at the beam ends and you'll see the work of a timber scribe

Also used to mark cargo, (crates and barrels) on board freighters as to destination and or contents

This baby was loved by it's former owner, carried deep in his pocket every day, (a true EDC knife), he loved it so much he carved his initials into it so no one would try to lay claim to it, (not that he would ever let it out of his sight) .

This knife has character, the letters EB were deep carved into the scale, (using a timber scribe to cut the letters in), the scales are so worn from use they were as smooth as glass, still sharp as hell, this puppy was cherished.

Nice! Can you pinch that Northfield open?

I apologize for the crappy iPad pic, not sure what kind of wood is on this old pruner.
