That Boker looks like something I'd like, so I'm closing my eyes and moving on. Hahaha, too much spur of the moment buying lately.Blue Maple Burl Dozier and a Thuya Burl Boker for Wooden Wednesday.

LOL. Not trying to be an enabler, Alan, but it's a nice little knife! That Boker looks like something I'd like, so I'm closing my eyes and moving on. Hahaha, too much spur of the moment buying lately.
My steel knowledge is bottom of the barrel Gary. All I know is the 52100 that John usually uses is not at all like the 1095 carbon I'm used to. Most of my knives see very light use so all I have to go on is how it develops a patina. So far the 52100 seems very resisant. There are several knives in W-2 carbon steel available.LOL. As far as I'm concerned all those Lloyd's you post have me checking out what's available every time I have access to the internet! If there were some built with CPM-154 I'd be in the doghouse!
Very nice; what kind of wood is that? Looks like Oak but rather dark (smoked?)This picture is from this morning. It was the only part of the day that was this sunny. The rest of the day was mostly rain.View attachment 877207
You’ve guessed right. That is oak from the insides of a whiskey barrel that was then used as a beer barrel.Very nice; what kind of wood is that? Looks like Oak but rather dark (smoked?)
