The only knife with wood handle I'm carrying this week is this oak Opignel No 8 my daughter got for me somewhere in Spain (looks like a town called Aranda de Duero) in 2017.

Late last year I went on a course to learn to make Damascus/pattern welded steel. An activity vacation for me, I guess akin to dude ranching. Anyway, I came away with an Opinel 8 blade (gratitude to the tutor for his assistance) which I used to replace the blade in a new No8. I could have gone for more layers, but I like the wavelike simplicity.

That must be a custom or a rehandle. I’ve never seen katalox on a factory knife. Same for camelthorn, which would make great handles.

Nope, not a rehandle or a custom, although they are "small batch". Albers Cutlery Co. Eric Albers, proprietor and chief bottle washer.


Funny you mention camelthorn as Eric has also used it.
