Thanks, Steve.Nice grain on your RR !
"African Blackwood", maybe? From what I've seen online, African Blackwood is very close to Ebony, but not (currently) an endangered species of plant. Thanks, Steve. That grain only shows up in bright sunlight. I have no idea what type of wood is on that knife; RR just calls it "black wood" and, sometimes, "blackwood" (like the Blackwood Brothers gospel quartet from the distant past
).
Here's a pic of the knife on a south-facing hotel window sill; the grain is still visible, but not standing out:

I wondered about that, especially when RR occasionally spells it as one word: "blackwood". But mostly they spell it "black wood", and I can buy that 4" closed lockback today for $7.43, so I doubt if the handle is something that gets substituted for ebony."African Blackwood", maybe? Could be ... but compare the RR/Marbles/Queen/Queen City prices for genuine Ram Horn, Buffalo Horn, Stag, Abalone, and other exotic materials, to other brands that offer those materials.I wondered about that, especially when RR occasionally spells it as one word: "blackwood".
