No, I meant, on the tree stump.

Just kidding, of course. Thanks! I was loathe to walk away from a Scout while at the Rendezvous. Congrats on getting one!

... It suddenly occurs that I haven't taken a picture of my own #25 and (non-Scout) #15 sheepsfoot beauties since adding the latter. Whoops.

Sarah, nice 79 there, love the blades finish too, much nicer IMHAHO...

Thanks! I generally do prefer the typically-Tidioute satin treatment of the blades over the high gloss, but this is the first Northfield I've addressed to this extent. There was just so much shiny-shiny blade, with a disproportionately small etch on the wide main...

The overall effect struck me as that of the peely-chrome finishes on cheaper items of yore.

I gave it one mustard-enhanced dinner (to gauge if/how patina would work its magic over time), then started to buff at it, and... there I went.

I'm pleased with how it turned out. There are a couple areas I might return to over time, but for now am leaning towards watching to see what is swallowed up in victory patina as I move forward.

(unfortunaltey I struggled to get the tasty hamon to show :()

I looked through my album and apparently only have an old photo of the single blade #48 in Snakewood and group shots. Here's the newest pic I have of it, still a bit old though. Its the 2nd from the bottom.

Thanks :) No Barlows were harmed in the taking of that pic though. I didn't realise that the wood was rotten and the blade just sank in ;)
