Wooden Wednesday - Traditionals only please

The hammer came with the country house (as did all the furniture, tools and kitchen ware, much of it still ok and useful) It has a small handle and is handy in confined spaces . When I was studying in England , worked in a garden with some proletarians and they referred to the small hammers as 'Toffee 'ammers'. Asked why and they said that when they were children (men born in the early c 20th) toffee was sold at the sweet shop (confectioners) in huge slabs that had to be broken up with a hammer into smaller pieces. No wonder so many of them had no teeth...:eek:.

You’re too kind to say my photos are high-quality. While I’m fairly satisfied with some of them, most are pretty ordinary and have plenty of flaws in the eyes of photography experts. ;)
I always appreciate your additional information and anecdotes about objects or current and historical situations—they’re interesting and informative.😌

My rotation schedule assigned me only one knife with wood handle this week, a carbon steel Opinel No.6 I bought a dozen years ago.
Here's what it looked like then:

A couple of years after I got it, I decided I wanted to try modifying the handle shape. I was able to do so, but because I didn't adequately plan for how handle changes might affect the way the blade sat in the knife, I had to modify the shape of the blade as well. I was surprised I was able to pull that off reasonably well:
