Woods Wander In Early Spring

I like the Bravo a lot. Great stout blade, great ergos too. I just like to also have something very pointy along :)

I get that. I've been such a fan of drop-point knives with a forward belly for such a long time, I forgot how useful a point is. That is until I was reacquainted with the Buck 110 last summer. A nice hollow ground pointy knife is a thing of beauty.

I really like the Allen Surls Kestrel knife. It looks more useful than most of the woods knives I end up buying. Nice early spring woods visit. Yes, things are starting to grow again. Saw my first tic about a week ago (ugh). As soon as I have time, hopefully after this cold snap scheduled for tonight and tomorrow, I'll take a run out looking for some of the early wild flowers like Dwarf Crested Iris.

The Kestrel is a great little knife. It's a little thinner than I would prefer for a primary fixed blade here, in the colder months, but in the glades it would be perfect paired with a machete, and being 154CM it would be awesome there I think.

I like them for fine work, and I like them for prepping smaller fish and fowl, as well as digging out splinters and such. Just really handy to have them around.

You've got Spring where you are, but Where I live we still got a few feet of snow
Nice Pictures though, and those knives are great :)
While you're at it Check out some of the Randall Made knives, if you haven't already.
#27s really my favorite, the Trailblazer.

As always I really enjoyed your thread. A good example to other's who might be sitting on the sidelines. Nothing beats getting out there and doing stuff.

Looks like a great time.

Yeah, it was nice out that day :)

Thanks. Yeah, I remember it taking forever for spring to make it to Michigan last year.

I am really hoping to find a leather handled #5 I can afford.

Thanks man, and yeah I'd much rather be in the woods than in front of a television. I figure there is plenty of time to be stuck in front of a plastic box when I am too old to get out in the woods :)

Another Great post my brother!!

Thanks bro, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Super pics there mw.. Thank you for taking time to post/share!! John

Great stuff as always buddy, I'd only recently been thinking how a B&T type knife might be a great option as a do-it-all fixed blade for most tasks.

Yeah, while I have to admit I am still sort of hung up on stouter blades, I have to admit that this B&T of Allen's could handle the vast majority of my knife chores, especially if teamed up with an axe or machete.

Who is Keith?

Just do an internet search on Keith titanium water bottles, you'll see them.

Wonderful pics, great trip.
Thanks for documenting things. You have an eye for the little things in nature, very nice. Beautiful knives too :)
