I'm sure there's probably a lot here on the forum about the Woodsman Pal, but I haven't renewed my gold membership yet so I can't search and I wanted to ask for opinions and advice and possibly pictures if anyone has them. What's the WP like and how versitile is it? How do you think it would compare to a Khukuri as and outdoor/survival knife. I have several different Khuks but have never seen the WP in person.

I've handled the woodsmans pal but I do not own one.. It is a handy tool but not handy enough in my opinion to justify the cos over a good covexed Tramotina or a used HI Khuk..the hook works for clearing brush but is cumbersome and interferes with a boton should you want to split with it

Nice review Phil.... I've been wondering about these things for a while, now.

One question, though....

How did you manage to get Lynne Thompson to model for you?

Doesn't the knuckle guard get in the way when flipping the WP over to use the brush hook. It looks like the handle is only designed to use one direction.

A lot of people on these forums really like them. They seem like a handy tool to me, but more handy around the yard and garden than in the woods. I wish it was hardened to the mid-50's rather than high 40's HRC. I'm sure it's a usable tool, however.

i carry one of these on my tractor, it is a geat land clearing tool, will knock down fence row brush easily and i have found that the hook will cut through about 1 1/2 inch saplings and branches easily. it stays sharp enough and i have batoned fire wood with it, it is a no nonsense tool, there is even a fighting manual on how to engage the enemy with your woodsmans tool written during ww2, i thought that this was cool. some folks dont like it, but mine has been usefull, it does a lot of things easily.
