Well, I enjoyed doing the Woodsman run, and now that I am full time I want to do several more runs. They'll be small runs of 10 participants max. This time you will get your choice from a selection of handle materials I have good stock of. I don't take money up front, but please don't sign up if you're not serious about taking the knife.

Here are the handle choices. I have Natural Canvas Micarta, Black Canvas Micarta, and Red Linen Micarta. For wood, I have Cocobolo, Wenge, Osage, Curly Hickory, Bocote, and Paduk in plenty, and will limit the exterior wood choices to those. For underlay, I have Natural Canvas Micarta, Black Canvas Micarta, Maple, Hickory, Paduk, East Indian Rosewood, and Osage. You can pick and choose from this list.

My knives are 01 steel with a full height convex grind and I use at least one Corby Bolt (ss) on the handle. I start with 5/32 thick 01 stock.

The price is $200 shipped for this knife. A JRE sheath is available for purchase ($25 additional), or, you can choose to have Tal make you a sheath. You will have to negotiate a price with him at that time. As a LAST resort, I will make you a sheath for $75 minimum.

This thread is the signup for Woodsman. Please detail your handle choices in your post.

What color liner, I forgot to mention that above.

WooHoo! I got in on this one!
I want one with a JRE sheath. What wood combo and liner colour do you recommend with osage? I'll have that.

Thanks!!! You want the osage on the outside, or on the inside?

I'm going to sound like my wife and say "I don't know. You decide." I'm going to leave it in your capable hands. Which ever wood and liner you think goes best, outside or inside. Surprise me.

Andy,
I would like one with Osage wood and red liners. Do you have a time line?

Thanks!! You want a solid Osage handle?

I'm full time now, so I don't think this is going to take long. The last run took ~5 months. But I was only working 6-8 hours a week in the shop. I don't like putting a finish by date on my work, and I don't take any $ up front. But this is my full time job now, so I think they'll be done by the end of July.

Andy,
The solid Osage would be great with red liners. Can you add a JRE Sheath with the order?

Kevin

How dark is the Osage that you have now? I'm thinking of Osage underlay with a Rosewood or Cocobolo outside and a red liner. Thoughts? Also, are the bullseye lanyards an option? Those kind of scream "Fiddleback" to me.

I don't know what you mean about how dark the Osage is. Its a nice bright yellow when you cut it. I think its really beautiful under Cocobolo.

I think I will offer the bullseye lanyard tube. That adds $5 to the price though. If you're interested in having it added, post, and make sure I've added it to the signup list in the original post. Thats what I'm going to make the knife by, so please make sure I have it right.

Yes sir. I've got it.

I asked about the color because I've seen some pictures of Osage handles that were really dark and some that were really light. Regardless, I'd like to go with a red liner and Osage underlay with the Cocobolo overlay and the bullseye lanyard tube. Thanks!

Osage is one of those woods that darkens as it ages. I coat it with polyurethane to slow this down, but it will darken over time. When you first cut it its bright yellow like that.

I am in. Bocote for the exterior, Maker's choice of wood for the underlay.

Got it Rooikat! Thanks!

Andy, please add the bullseye lanyard tube to my order. I am cool with the extra cost. Thanks
