Just looked at the new website and see 112s are now offered in the custom shop. Thank you Buck!

Wow,

Very cool! Now a bunch of you folks can order a CS 112 just like back in 2007. I just may order a CS 113!

This is very good news. Now I can match my CS 110 collection with some CS 112 goodness!

Wow, been holding my breath for a few years for custom 112's to return. Brass isn't my first choice for bolsters, but I'll take what I can get: S30v, plain handled with buffalo scales sans rivets. :D:thumbup:

What's the biggest advantage with selecting the s30v over the 420hc? I have a 501 and happy with the 420hc but thinking about the s30v.

Cutting edge is held sharp longer with S30V IMHO and casual user experience. It is the invention of the South African genius Chris Reeve partnering with Crucible Metals making it the very first knife specific super blade steel.

112 only available with brass bolsters. :(
I'm stumbling a bit over this, also. Would love to have stainless or nickel silver. Going to have to think about it.

S30V has way better edge retention than 420HC. Better than 440C, 154CM, etc.
Buck uses the Paul Bos heat treat for S30V. It's as good as that alloy gets.

American Oak on this custom shop 110 is my cup of tea. What knife are you contemplating with American Oak?

I don't have enough 112s. One done in brass, brass pins and oak sounds real good to me. The above knife was done when I was anti-studs but I've gotten over that now. I always opt for the S30V on a custom knife unless it is just for looking at and then maybe mirror polished 420HC would be the way to go. Desert Chris's anvil sure makes knives look good. Please post some photos if you go ahead on that build.

Oregon, after seeing your beauty, I think I have seen my grail knife. What a beauty!

Thank you Jkoos. Buck has some really beautiful oak. The look and feel reminded me of school furniture from back in the day. The oak stuff that had already lasted a long time when it was my turn to use it. The tough stuff.

That is exactly what it reminded me of. Quality of buck and the feel of home, just perfect. I will post pics when it comes in. I have to travel for work for a couple months, so it will be a while.

I know they aren't 112's but I ordered these two from the custom shoppe in oak and walnut. My plan was to gift which ever looked the nicest to my father as he was looking for a 501 and had never had a knife with S30v. IMHO the walnut was the nicer looking of the pair so that's the one he got. The walnut is of course the darker wood in the photos below. Nothing really wrong with the oak, just not as appealing to my eye as the walnut. On a knife like the 112 or 110 where the scales are a bit wider and or longer it might look different.
