Woohoo! Custom 112s now available

I like the rich color of the walnut. What kind of wood are we talking about with these scales, is it cheap veneer walnut or solid?

Cool. Have one on order: S30V, walnut, finger grooves. I need to look at another with elk scales..........

Edited: OK. #2 will be a workhorse, so finger grooves again, 420HC, oak, pins, and engraving.
Looking forward to these. :)

I am so glad that I dropped in here today to have a look around the place:) This has been a wish come true! Now off to the Buck website I go...

Arrived today, and it was worth the wait. The buffalo horn is smooth as silk all around. Now the hard part: Getting myself to use it!

Centering's dead on; lock bar flush, front and back, open and closed with only the slightest sliver of light sneaking out between it and the liners near the rear bolster. Locks up tight, no wiggle or rock. Bit of a premium price for those tight tolerances, but it's either get one now or hope they do another run in the 2020's as interest seems surprisingly low around these parts. That's how I'm trying to justify ordering another at least. :D

Thanks for the quick review. Sounds great and I'm definitely on board with ordering one. I'm thinking s30v with walnut, but not sure if I want the pins or not.
What kind of blade did you get?

Felt obligated to go with the S30v myself as there wasn't a compelling reason not to. Pins or no pins was the hardest decision, no regrets. Now stag with nickle bolsters on the other hand... I'd need to sleep on that call.

Hi Victor! That will be as easy call as the 112, regrettably, is not available from the custom ship with nickel bolsters at this time. If it were, I think there would be many more orders!!

Yeah, shame about the lack of nickel silver but I was too happy to see custom 112's available at all to be that picky. We can always keep hoping for more options going forward.

Personally, I use the belt pouch for the 112. Usually wearing khakis or cargos and turning fast with a heavy, bulky knife pocketed is like swinging a wrecking ball. In the past few years I've made a concerted effort to empty my pockets. Pen, handkerchief, pocket watch, slipjoint; everything else gets slapped on the belt. All a matter of preference, naturally.

Very nice custom 112! I agree with VK the 112 goes better sheath carried. If they keep doing these I might have to have the indigo 30V in about 7 months when I pay the old F-150 off!

I need to hold off ordering one for a while to allow my funds to replenish. When I do get one, along with the sheath they give you, I'd like to try out one of those custom sheaths where you can carry the knife horizontal.

That looks good. And yes pins or not was difficult. I would have preferred nickle bolsters, but brass will work. ;)

Waiting..................

I'm really glad to see Buck have custom shop 112's again! This is the first time CS 112's has been on Bucks website and I really hope it's a big seller. .When I get mine it will for sure be with the coated blade. That was offered way back in 2010 when Buck had the 30 day order window but as far as I know none were made. I tried to get one then but it didn't work out. I went on the site last night to build and price one, I really like the way Buck set it up so you can see what it looks like! I don't remember any option for blade steel tho.Collecting 112's has been a lot of fun for me and for sure I'll add a few for my display that yall will see at the Blade Show next year. If you build one on Bucks website be sure to check out the engraving options, it can really add some pop! I like the way the script font looks on the bolsters . I just found out about yesterday and if I had not just bought one of the last BG42 301's I think I would order one today!

I changed my plan. I have a production 112 arriving Friday instead of going with a Custom 112. I really want to try it out first and carry around for a while before deciding if a custom is for me. I have a feeling I'm going to like it though.

In production now:
