My wife ordered me this Survivalist blade from ML knives (right up the road from me!) for Valentine's Day. I received it tonight, it looks awesome. Forged 1095 and tiger maple. A couple of quick pics, a better review to come:

That's a beaut buddy, very cool !!!!

He is actually working on a modified survivalist for me right now !!!!

Looks good, is there a reason the wood doesn't go right to the end of the handle?

Just the design I guess, pretty comfy to my hand though. We'll find out soon how comfortable it is to use...

Nice. Who made the pouch?

ML did. Very simple, but seems well constructed and tight.

That's a sturdy looking little blade. Very nice.

Thanks :thumbup::thumbup:

Pit -Cool. what kind of mods?

I've got a survivalist on order as well. Looks great.

I 'm pretty impressed by initial impressions, look forward to seeing what you think..

Sounds like it is the in blade to have !!!:D:thumbup:

The problem is is now I started looking at the Hudson Bay!

4" handle with scales all the way and the blade is sharpened right to the back ricasso...guess it's a totally different knife eh !:o

That looks really good! Love the blade shape.

For a "survival" knife it's good to have an extended tang to beat on if you need to chisel notches or chisel out chunks of ice to melt for water. That way you can beat on it without breaking off the handle scales.

That's just the design buddy, open ended lanyard ! This would allow you to strike the butt of the knife with a batton without fear of damaging the scales.
I opted to have the scales come right to the end, Matt will accomodate any requests within reason !;)

Hey...there's an echo in here :)

Matts knives rock. I really like small fixed blades that I can slip into the side pocket of my hiking shorts, and this one looks perfect for that.

Nice little knife!! I love the dropped edge. I would prefer one like Pit's with the edge all the way back.
