I enjoy getting into shark mode every Friday even if there isn't anything I plan on going for. It still feels a bit intimidating, so it's nice to see a story of success. I can imagine the success of acquiring the particular knife you wanted creates a certain kind of sentiment that will be attached to the knife for as long as you have it.
Enjoy your new Fiddlethingy! (Thanks Whitty for the new term. It was the best part of your story, if you're reading this)
I know what you mean about going into shark mode and the excitement and anticipation of what is to come that day....it is intimidating, but all one can do is give it a shot and have fun with the whole experience....i tried to shark one I liked last week for the 1st time and didn't get it, but i knew that this week would bring a new batch of beauties....so don't get discouraged, I literally could not have posted any faster today and still had like the 16th post....these sharks are top line predators, be prepared for disappointment, but be persistent and you will succeed.
I agree about the attachment - I really wanted to shark my 1st Fiddleback knife directly from the Forge rather than buy from a retailer. Although there is no difference, it somehow feels more personal to me I guess? I don't plan on parting with this one as it is my 1st. I hope to give it many years of good use and someday pass it on to someone who will appreciate it too.
