Word "Knife" not "Family Friendly" - Who knew? M&M's Rejects Knife Rights' Order!

I've been at BLADE all weekend, and as far as I can tell, both KnifeRights and AKTI are doing quite well recruiting new members. It's been very rare to see a maker/manu table or booth without info/logos supporting one if not both groups, and I applaud that support. Personally, I've renewed my AKTI membership and joined KnifeRights. I encourage you all to do the same.

I saw exactly one table that had M&Ms on it on Friday... as compared to almost every single other table that had AKTI and/or KR signs and info on them. And yes, I said "BOOO, M&M's!" when I walked past that table.

This is one of my clients (can't disclose much more than that) and they're based out of Massachusetts. While their products are actually pretty good, I doubt they'd be interested in the potential political shitstorm.

What political storm? There was no issue until Mars made the decision to NOT do business with KR. Had they provided the product, there would have been no issue, no storm.

Which is why I said potential. Just like there were no issues with Starbucks until they got involved in the gun debate, same with Home Depot, Hobby Lobby, ect. There's never a problem until someone who doesn't agree with a decision decides to make a public complaint to a news outlet. No one cares until some mom decides that Mars was right all along and (insert company that decided to make the KR branded candy) was wrong and their kids will never be allowed to eat their product. All it takes is a few stay-at-home mom's to decide they're bored and want to complain about something. Then the whole country is watching and deciding to throw in their two cents.

Emailed. We are forgetting that the idea for m&ms was picked up during the Spanish civil war after the founder saw soldiers eating pelleted chocolates. During WWII, in conjunction with Hershey's, the candies were produced for and sold exclusively to our military.

Derived from a war. Popularity developed through a war. Won't include the word "knife" for a limited run. Hypocrisy defined here, IMHO.

Exactly what I was thinking... :grumpy:

I don't really find fault with M&M Mars' refusal to support KR. It is their right to do so. However, I do find fault with lieing about canceling of the order.

That's just low, so my opinion of whoever the decision maker was in that regard will remain with me for a long time regardless of the future actions of both entities invloved. My opinion of M&M Mars has been changed forever because of this. I see a company of liars now, and that is a shame because they make some damn fine products. I just won't be able to help it. Everytime I see the products I will be reminded of this....this....absence of character and integrity.
