WORK flashlite

Another vote the the Fenix LxT lights. I have a L1T V2.0 and I am completely thrilled with it. It is used mostly as a headlight for commuting on my bike, but see use camping, bon fires, car work. Excellent user interface and form factor. So far I have had ZERO reliability issues.

1228081932.jpg Here is my current edc set up. I just upgraded my minimag with a new LED. I decided on the more expensive single bulb over the three bulb version. I used to have the tailcap but didn't like the blinking red light. I have plenty of flashlights with a tailcap switch so I don't need another one. I do have a rayovac 3watt LED that is really nice, kind of looks like a surefire knock-off.

One of the guys on the canine-unit has been bringing in the 5W MXDL for $20 and this has been very popular - many officers now use these on the night rounds rather than the work-issue 5-cell maglites, which get to be a tad heavy after a while - although their heft can be an advantage in certain situations

I always carry a small LED Lenser on duty belt (excellent for daytime cell/room searches and IMO a far better unit than the MXDL - albeit at 4x the price. I also use a 3-cell maglite with Malkolf insert for night patrols rather than the 5-cell work-issue as I find that extra length awkward while worn on the belt and negotiating stairs. Work supplies the alkaline batteries so running cost is not an issue.

I dropped my fenix l1d the other day at work, approx 25 ft to concrete floor, we were all amazed that it was laying there STILL ON:thumbup:

My previous light(also fenix) lasted under hard daily use, 2yrs, until someone decided they liked it more:mad:

I also recommend a Surefire G2....got mine for about $35...plenty of light, brighter than a 3D Maglite and fits snugly in the Surefire sheath I got for it. As far as batteries are concerned, if you plan on using the flashlight frequently, then getting rechargables would be recommended. However, I find myself having to replace them around every four to six weeks, or as required, YMMV. :D

so you want to get a real flashlight,if you go with fenix it must be TK-11 R-2,TK-10 rocks but TK-11 has more battery options.but I would say once you start buying

try a led lenser p14...people keep trash talking led lensers so i decided to buy one to see what all the hubbub's about.

it's a fine light. i like the focusability (good bright throw and flood) and form factor (good runtimes on AA NIMHs). it's pretty tough too - dropped it a couple times while hiking and in the rain...no problemos.
