GREETINGS!

This evening I have for sale a very unusual Work Hawk with Katalox wood scales that transition to black paracord wrap and a little bit of natural terotuf at the top. Katalox is a super hard hardwood from south of the border. I have always loved the way this stuff looks and feels, and this handle is no exception. I started with thicker slabs than usual, so I was able to leave a nice big fawn's foot swell at the base. The handle scales are attached with inset chainring bolts, which are then hidden under translucent phenolic. The sheath on this work hawk was somewhat of an experiment and I think it came out well. I used a quick-release buckle and spring adjustment from a well-worn Nam era surplus ALICE pack. I love this oldschool technology and I wanted to do the piece justice; somehow it felt kind of sacred to me thinking that this likely belonged to a soldier and saw service around the world. It works great and makes a very satisfying 'clink' when the ripcord is pulled. I integrated the old hardware using some nice latigo 6-7oz that has a similar color to the Katalox. The sheath has two loops that can be repositioned to adjust their size and orientation for different sized belts or mounting options.

I wasn't feeling terribly satisfied with my pictures so here's a quick video of the Hawk:

A 2x4 chopping video with a Work Hawk, same weight and grind as this one:

Steel: .25" 80CRV2 @59RC, 47RC Tang
Heat treat by Peter's

OAL: 12.75"
Edge Length: 3.75"

P.S. This thing is nasty sharp.

The price of this Work Hawk is $315 (via Paypal, includes USPS Priority Mail to the CONUS). First "I'll take it" gets it.
