Since there are so many founders Bowie threads right know I thought I would add what Paul just sent me

AGAIN THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS AND IS NOT FINISHED BY PAUL LONG STANDARDS

I had to add that disclaimer or Paul would beat me like my red headed step rother STeven ( bet ya all didn't know STeven dyes his hair :D )

This is the micarta user Jason made. It came with a great sash sheath but when I hunt or roll around the woods I wear an overbelt. Kinda like a tool belt

It holds flash light ,leathermen , if gun hunting cartridge holder sometimes a range finder etc.

I like carrying a big knife scout style (horzontal small of back) this arrangement also hooks to packs and is a very handy way to carry a knife

Pauls design snaps on and off quickly and I am very excited

Thanks Paul

Sweet, Joey.

Do me a fav, will ya and snap a pic with it on the belt and with you wearing it when you receive it? I'm having trouble picturing exactly how a big blade like that can be carried in a horizontal position and not be a bother...

Great looking knife and the sheath design looks perfect....

thast gonna look real nice on your pack when your totting that new Silvertip recurve!

Matt picture like a fanny pack but riding along your belt line instead of down on your ass

Thanks Dusty

Matt L thanks buddy

For those that dont know what a Silvertip is here is a pic this bow is in the mail right now they just finished making it for me

As Joey is experiencing some technical issues with his computer, he graciously offered to send me some pics of this rig on his belt (it's my guess that one of his lovely daughters was behind the camera). Here they are, and it definitely looks like a pretty cool way to tromp around the woods with a monster blade like this! I might have to send one of my blades to Master Long for a similar setup. Thanks for sending me the pics, bro - much easier to understand now!

I still contend, however, that if I tried to get away with doing this with a blade this size it'd look like someone tried to strap a 2x4 to a pipe cleaner!

Thanks Matt for moving around the woods climbing over stuff crawling thru thickets this way of carry does not pull your pants down

Over belts are used by alot of different people from cops to carpenters because they work. This belt has a leatherman a flashlight walkie talkie for when we are doing drives

This is set up for bowhunting if I where using a gun there would also be a cartridge holder and rangefinder I dont like things in my pocket and this keeps everything I need all together I first got used to using overbelt like tool belts in Africa 20 years ago keeps everything handy

I usually have a Filson loggers coat on which covers everything and keeps it dry

Paul did such a fine job on this sheath

Thanks buddy

That is a seriously cool rig - Paul doesn't know how to do anything other than a VERY fine job.

I love showing that Paul can do hardcore work sheaths as well as pretty decorative sheaths

Thanks Roger

What's the technique for resheathing the knife?

Super simple when using an over belt the belt is not thru loops so you can easily just rotate belt to front resheath knife and rotate back

When wearing regular belt not with overbelt the sheath is easily unattached with the quick release sam brown straps

very easy

If you watch any big game hunting in Africa or even look at old pics from the civil war or really any period in history men did not hang there weapons from there main belt. There is a reason for this it pulls your pants down. An over belt kinda works like a chinese finger puzzle and locks on your waist hence does not pull your pants down Like a gun belt or carteidge belt or a modern police officer's overbelt

In the morning if I am in hunting camp I grab my belt and weapon and I basically have what I need Knife , flashlight , multi tool , cartridge holder etc.

Kinda like a tool belt

The only time this does not work is when you have a heavy pack on and need to cynch the pack around your waist. Alot of the hunting I do involves alot of walking and this system works for me as well as it did for men thru out history

Looks like a very practical rig carry system, Joe.
Easily accessible, secure and best of all, a Paul Long sheath.
Congrats !

Great design and execution by Jason and Paul. Great technique and education by Paranee. This is what I call a worthwhile thread!

Love this Founders Bowie package.
