Work in progress - Anyone interested?

Not exactly sure what your response means, but am trying to be helpful and constructive....just another perspective from a collector...take it for what it is worth.

If you are happy with the way your work is turning out, and have no want for new customers, you can ignore everything I have to say.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Steven,
The "oh Dear", was what came to mind when I read your post, no offence meant, and I hope you've not taken any:)
I can understand where you're coming from with the fact that many collectors want stainless blades and guards. Brass is very old fashioned I will admit, but I happen to like it.
Heres a few other things I like to do with it -

So you see its not just a knife thing with me, I actually like working with it:eek:
I only make knives because it makes me happy, not to try and become the next big thing! Nobody was more amazed than me when I first started getting orders. Even more so after I (with much trepidation) put some pictures on the internet, and started recieving orders from the UK, US, and South Africa. My only ambition as far as knifemaking goes is to have one pictured in Blade magazine and the Knives annual. If I can achieve that, I'll be a happy man!!
I doubt I will ever use stainless for blades as I'm unable to heat treat it, and I prefer to do the whole thing myself. (for financial reasons as much as anything:grumpy:)
I'm not ignoring what you and many others say to be head strong, its just that I'm happy in my little world! As you can probably see from the thread, I tend not to take this whole knife thing too seriously, and lifes far too short to be doing things you don't want to be doing.
I'm sure what I've made already will outlast me, as theres still quite a lot of knives (and guns for that matter) from years ago kicking around made with brass fittings and non-stainless steel.
Just one other thing, what do you mean by the choil/ricasso being to high?
You confused me a bit with that one!!
And yes, if I'd made the point a little bit more central, the false edge would have been bigger! Live and learn eh?

Regards, Ian
