I've had a SOG Kilowatt in my electrical belt for some time now. I've found it a very useful tool for that sort of work.
Being a general contractor I wouldn't use it as much as an electrician / electrical repair person but it has been put into action on a hundred or so occasions.
You may want to check into it.
You can't go wrong with a good multitool either.

For a work knife its hard to beat a Swiss Army Knife (SAK) or maybe a multitool..I have a Victorianox Farmer and love it. I bought my brother a Super Tinker for Christmas. low cost high use knives.

I've been carrying a ParaMilitary for a while now when I''m in the shop, and though its a bit on the pricey side for a work knife, I love it.
I'm also rather fond of SAKs, you get one hell of a tool for what you pay for.

Back when I fixed phone line for AT&T I had the good ol' Buck 110. I worked in the Mojave desert then too. Shovels work best for snakes.

Now dazes if I were doing that kind of work it would be a SOG para-tool or Leatherman's Blast tool on my belt.

well i forgot my fiances dad for christmas and i feel bad for not getting him anything he works for cox communications doing as a comunication something he basicly fixes all the major problems not the home things and he his always saying how he needs a good knife for work but they wont let him have a fixed blade so anyone have any recomendations on a good folder?

For his line of work, I would recommend a Victorinox SwissTool or Spirit. I never leave home without mine.

Maybe a SAK Electrician? Most any Multi-tool would be helpful. If you want a locking blade, go for a SAK Trekker, or Atlas. SwissTool Spirit is an excellent choice as well. Even the basic Leatheman PST is fine, if you want to go for something a bit thinner.

+1 Benchmade 551 Grip. I carry that one as well as a Spyderco Military. I love 'em both, but may have a new fave come the next year when the Folding Izula rolls out.

Leatherman I do communications work and I use a leatherman everyday and have done so for years.

+1 for the SOG knife, their multitools are also a nice choice, I have 4 different models of them right now and love them - made in USA and life time warranty AND built like a tank!

SOG Toolclip - discontinued but can be found on WWW for around US$50 new condition.

So many knives so little time. For an inexpensive knife that will get the job done ontario's rat 1 is great, kabar's warthags are great as well. I have put these through some punishment and they hold their blades well also. There's so many great inexpensive knives the list is almost endless, it becomes a matter of personal preference.

if more Rat fans owned the rat-1 folder they would be recommending it more often, have 2

really good slicer and takes a razor edge, very solid and easy to clean with the open backed frame(fish guts\scales)

the dozier folders are priced about the same with aus8, really good knives as well but they don't have the strength of the rat-1

you would be hard pressed to find a better built and designed hard use folder, for 30$ how can you go wrong?

well it depends on your budget and how long the blade can be. i would recommend the spyderco paramilitary. i find it to fill my hands and it takes a great edge. though i dont see how this pertains to RAT cutlery. merry christmas.

Idem, or the spyderco mini manix

Don't laugh but one of my daily carry knives, which I use for everything, is a dillon precision superknife. I know it is another folding utility knife but the dillon was the FIRST. They are 14 bucks and you absolutely cannot go wrong.....
