Work Sharp

I like my work sharp alot but you can ruin some blades real quick.if your not careful. Where can i get some belts between the 220 and 6k? With a few more belts in between i think it could make a really nice polished edge.

Maybe I didn't give mine enough of a chance because I hated it. Ruined my little Spyderco Delica right off. The guide is a joke like the one guy said. I didn't try freehanding before I sold mine but that might have been the key. For now I'm gonna stick to my Sharpmaker, sandpaper and strops. Can't stand to hurt a knife like that!

I just got a Work Sharp recently. I was able to get my BK2 and Benchmade Mini-Griptilian shaving sharp quickly. It also cleaned up the edge on my Cold Steel Kukri machete. Unfortunately, I haven't been too successful with my other knives. Even after the 6000 grit belt the edge feels very toothy and drags through paper. I may have to use a Sharpie again when I sharpen with the WSKTS.

Here's a Work Sharp question... do you only do one side until you get a burr and then do the other side? Or do you alternate each side until you feel a burr? What is your trigger to switch to a finer belt? Do you also look for a burr using the same method on the finer belt? It would help me if someone could explain the best process. From the videos.. they just seem to alternate sides.

alternate sides, one pass on the belt is enough to get a noticeable burr on the 220 belt that comes with it. 4-5 passes per side is a good rule of thumb for switching belts until you get the feel of it.

speaking of videos...

I love my work sharp. Took it to work to show ppl what it could do and everyone begged me to sharpen their knives. I ended up ordering 4 for some of the guys at work. I have to take it to work every couple months and sharpen knives. I guess the only real issue I've had is tanto blade knives can be a lil tricky. I do the the 2 edges separately. Quick and easy is what I like. I usually run the knives over a ceramic rod a couple strokes just to smooth out the edge. I'm not a pro and not real anal about it. I don't have any hair on my left arm....good enuf for me.
