For you folks that have worked bone micarta how are you finishing it? Is it bad to catch particulate like ivory micarta is? Wet sand and buff? What's the word?

All the white Micartas have seemed tricky to me. They stain in working them, and will scorch easily if you aren't careful.

I’ve had luck wet sanding with wd-40 to keep from staining. Use fresh belts while shaping. Buff with clean buff with white compound or pure carnauba wax.

I like the cream color of the bone but Ive never liked working with lighter colored micarta.. I was hoping the bone may be a little more forgiving..

The problem I had with dry sanding the ivory micarta was the pin residue would embed in the handle material. Then it was always tough to get it back clean so I could buff it. I use rhynowet paper if that helps.

I have a few little personal projects. Looking at bone micarta over brown micarta liners with maybe brown micarta pins and tube.. Thiking about bolsters but haven't decided yet..

When you have it clean, put a couple layers of super glue on it to fill the small pores. Then sand it again lightly to get the top layer of super glue off. I did this on a bone color paper micarta handle and then I was able to buff it without getting marks all over it.
