I`ve started the drawing stage of a new Hawk design, more of a Tactical Hawk. This one will be a bit shorter than the standard Hawks, and I still have not decided on whether it will have a spike, or flat tip like the DBH.

Hi John -

Cool - I look forward to seeing your take on a tactical hawk.

What is the intended purpose of the hawk? Military, utility or fighter, breaching, etc..

I love to see these things develop and evolve. Each hawk design has it's own personality and perspective on what a hawk can do.

I`m thinking of urban utility / personal defence, which would include door breaching.

Hi John,

Please post your drawing/cardboard mockup when you have a chance.

Very excited about this. I really like your hawk designs and it sounds like I may want to pick this one up.

Here we go! This one is around 11" overall, and the head measures 4 3/4" from front to back, and has a 3 1/4" cutting edge. I may leave about 1/2" of the end of the handle exposed for pounding.

Nice hawk, a very clean set of lines, very to the point! Seems like that would be easy to carry, conceal, and deploy. I like when the scales allow for a good grip all the way up to the head, and stop to leave some steel exposed at the end of the handle.

Winkler has his demo axe with the "can opener" at the end of the handle. Ever thought about putting a bottle opener there instead? A guy's gotta have a beer at the end of a hard day.:D

The handles need to be round for supreme comfort. Make a good zombie killer too. Hehehehe

Since there seems to be some interest in this, and I had some time open up in January, I`m going to make one. The idea I have for the "sheath" will be pretty cool too, if it works out like I envision it.

I actually was thinking of tapering the exposed part at the end of the handle to use as a prybar.

That sounds great. You're making me second guess my Ontario RD pick hawk purchase. Hopefully I'll have money again by the time you're producing these. I can't wait to see a prototype.
