Doesn't this belong on the sub-forum "Buck Knives For Sale"?

110, When your checking/ reading the Buck Forum topics page, look above these. For a title 'Buck Knives for sale'. They are in that. Some nice models Chico. DM

Mike, Your thread is closed. You have been around a while so I am guessing you made a mistake and intended to post this in the Buck sale thread, since it is not allowed in a regular forum. Because this is a DAV thing I will leave it with no price or contact info showing. I will unlock it for you to move if you contact me with a PM....If 24 hrs passes I will delete it all, as I must. 300Bucks

OK, Mike and I talked , I tried to help, but you apparently can't move a Thread orPost from Buck forum into Buck sale forum, if other posts have occurred. At least with my knowledge level. Sorry Mike you are on your own.

EVERYONE, I WILL REOPEN THREAD BUT DON'T TALK ABOUT SALES OR MONEY.

Yes, I have to WOrk on being nice to some others around here too. They are still not as bad as one other we had. I try to stomach it in reference to our extreme. DM

Thank you for the photos Mike.

Wondering about Harold Klinkhammer's story. Anyone have a thumbnail sketch/summary that they can offer here?

Apparently, HK had the above pictured knives made by Buck for himself (see link below). And, multiple sets were made back in the D.A.Y.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/586722-Klinkhammer?highlight=klinkhammer

I acquired a terrific 106, regular production burgundy Micarta handle, from him online. I had dinner with him, in the same room anyway, at the BCCI 25th meet. Stumps sat with him at his table at the 25th http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1093212-BCCI-25th-Anniversary-Post-Falls/page2 post #32. And this is all of the interface/background I have for HK so I'm asking if someone can please fill in a detail or two.

Takes two, to tango. Can't bame only one guy. There have been several people that have had knack for talking smack. Usually cause most don't realize that typing/reading, sounds alott worse than it was actually meant.

Let me clear up something before we go off track in this thread.

I was 'Working' on being nice to Mike not because I had to 'work' at it. He accidently posted a sale thread here and because there were posts in his thread when I saw it, I could not move it to the Buck Sale thread. I was trying to help him out so he didn't have to redo everything. That's how I was being nice. In the end it wouldn't work out. I understand the comments about being nice to people by David and Matt, but lets don't start a complaint thread here.

Things have a way of going one way then another. Compared to other threads the people here are better to be around than several BF threads. I look at it as if it is all our jobs to police problems with decent words, give a helping hand when needed and when you need to gripe to someone if your dog won't listen to you then you can email me.......300

Don't everyone speak at once about the Klinkhammer Knifeworks legend please, please, please...

Why the mystery regarding the Klinkhammer Legacy? I know nothing but that won't stop me from speculating. Nope. Uh uh. Yapping without any real knowledge what-so-ever hones critical BS neuron pathways in the noggin.

Possible reasons for silence about Harold Klinkhammer:

1. The first rule of Klinkhammer is no one talks about Klinkhammer.

2. Harold has serious dirt on everyone so none dare speak.

3. The Klinkhammer mystery only adds to collector value so present owners zip it.

4. The Klinkhammer name is a construct for marketing reasons and only exists on blue screens at Industrial Light and Magic studios.

5. The gods forbid it.

6. The Klinkhammer collection is only properly discussed in the Spring while the remainder of the year mentioning it is off season and out of style.

7. We all know that his lovely wife is looking for him and none want to get involved in affairs of the heart by possibly giving away his location.

8. Klinkhammer is actually in the klink and discussion could be construed aiding and abetting.

9. Nobody knows nothing.

10. Reasons of national security since Harold is, little known outside of a small circle, a covert operative.

What I do know about the knife sets. Harold Klinkhammer commissioned Buck to build a set of knives and gave the specs to the set he wanted built. The first set or run of knives was a beautiful pattern of cherry and white bone ( I think). The sets were limited and fairy expensive. The second pattern or set came in a Cocobolo and bone handle and were very nice as well. Herold Klinkhammer is still alive and collects and sells knives on the Bay. Nice set of knives but no mystery.

How did Harold get that kind of pull with Buck? Is he a Buck dealer? Does he operate a brick and mortar shop?

I don't see sets like that made for anyone else is why I ask. Just curious is all.

I believe he told me that he had a really hard time getting Buck to agree to agree to make these, but everyone was happy in the end.
Wish I had a recording of the conversation because the 25th was a busy time and not everything I heard stuck in this too old of a brain. :)

I do remember it being a very enjoyable time spending dinner with the Klinkhammer family, Larry Williams and Cindy.

I thought the 2 sets from Harold were cherry and ironwood but it has been awhile so I digress. I visited his knife store down in Indiana many years ago. I'm not even sure if he still has it but it was a very nice place with gorgeous buck knives displayed everywhere. I believe he was/is a dealer. I still remember when I stopped down he just received two boxes from Buck that had his first shipments of the klinkhammer series. Man they were gorgeous. He's a great guy, and has some beautiful Bucks. I bought many knives from him over the years, but never one he designed.

For what it's worth, anyone could have Buck make a special run - you just have to have a minimum order and the cash.

Thank you kindly Matt, Mark and Post Falls for the information. I found addresses for Klinkhammer Knifeworks: 1. Lafayette, IN and 2. Delphi, IN but no details.

I spoke to Harold directly on the telephone after i purchased one of his knives. He gave me the straight skinny but made me swear to keep it quite...Sorry, but I have to honor his request.
If anyone really needs the info they might try to contact Harold directly but I doubt he will just chew the fat on it. There is a lot more than meets the eye.
