Well I have been working on my website today. I had a logo made up by Dave Cowles. This is the background color I liked and the logo has this as the background color as well. I don't really like the look of the layout of the site. I may need to add some kind of back ground graphics on the sides. I am using Yahoo site builder. Anyone got any pointers. Thanks!

Bear on mind Frank I'm d oing all this on my phone until I'm back from vacation so its hard to really appreciate it but.... the one thing I think is with the darker background I'd go with white lettering. I think it would not only stand out a bit better bit also be easier to read.

Site looks good to me. I'm using a crappy 1998 low resolution monitor since my laptop died, so some of my comments may be issues with my hardware. In my view, the text on the main page was wrapping funny, as if the line breaks weren't right. Also, the picture gallery looked good, but there's a way to change your settings so that each pic in the gallery is a link to a larger version of the picture. As it is, I couldn't get the gallery pics to enlarge. Where'd you get an alligator?

Thanks for the tips guys! I am trying to figure out that pic function, to enlarge them. Once I find out how to, I will do that.

Jason, that aligator is from the coast of northern mexico. It was a pic from I guy I sold the knife to. The other two pics are customers using my knives. I love it when they send me pics of the knives in use.

I'd move away from the blue text on the dark background as well. Maybe a subdued yellow or white. Other than that and enlarging the pictures, it's looking good! Congrats.

Hi Pancho , for us old guys with bad eyes , the blue was terrible and I could not navigate around the site . Switched from home to gallery and then was locked up .

I am not sure what is happening but I was unable to navigate away from the gallery page either.

There should be an option on site builder to select the color for active and visited links. Default color is usually blue. If your links are always going to be within the dark gray background you might change the link color to white or another very light color.

For the photos you should upload 2 sizes. The first being the smaller size as shown on your gallery page, the next being a full size 700 to 1000 px wide. Make a link that opens in a separate window from the smaller to the larger photos.

I would advise against a busy background on the sides or anywhere else. My opinion is keep it clean, easy to use, and easy to see everything.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys, I will kill the blue, as for the links, I am trying to iron out the kinks.

I would suggest removing the frame or make it more narrow so you can increase the size of the pictures, I think the font is a little difficult to read, but ok. Just a little bigger pics I think would give more detail and look better.

I just updated it again. Links should work and some pics have links to larger pics.

Looking good Frank. A few things:

1) Radioactive blue still on the contact page.
2) On the bigger pics pages specs on the knives would be nice.
3) A shot of your ugly mug in the about me section makes things more personal.
4) "I have learned a lot from other very talented knife makers..." not saying that you are not very talented but just don't say it yourself. ;)

Patrice, there is nothing wrong with honesty, right? After all, Frank is very proud of his humility :D:D.

I know what you meant, Panch, and so does Patrice, but wording/syntax is fine art to some. ;)

Oh, one more thing: is it just my eyes or does the font used for the main links (gallery, contact info, etc) look blurry?

The website looks MUCH better with the white text, in my opinion. Good job!!

Thanks Josh. I think. Hehehe... First web site I have made so I know there are alot of kinks I need to get out. It is fun though. I have seen worse as well.

In a past life, Josh use to write greeting cards. As you can see he had a short lived career. :p;)

My "Get Well Soon" cards read "Walk it off." :)

It looks better then that majority. Kudoes for doing it yourself.
