Working on some designs...Opinions?

I am working on my first sale and have been talking to a friend who is interested in purchasing a blade from me. We are currently working on coming up with a design that he likes before I start making it (after a few mess ups I'm sure). He likes a recurve blade design and a flat spine, which was established after I sent him a few designs first. I would like any thoughts and feedback on the designs. I will likely be using 1084 steel in 5/32 or 3/16 and heat treating using my coal forge. These are fairly large knives with a 4 1/2 inch handle and 4 3/4-5 inch blade. He would be using this primarily on a yearly hiking trip that he makes out west. It will be for general camp usage and he has been known to smash the back of his knives with a rock to cut firewood. I will do myself to convince him that a log/large stick will work just as well, if not better. Anyways, here's the pictures of the possible designs. We will continue tweaking until something jumps out at both of us.

This is just my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt. If this is your first knife, do yourself a favor and start smaller and Forget the recurve blades. Starting smaller with something along the lines of a warncliff, will save you a lot of headaches. Trust me, we've all been there and know the excitement, but when you are starting out, it can get frustrating when you try to do too much too soon. Knifemaking isn't easy, even for folks who have been at it awhile.

Thanks for the feedback.

Anthony, thanks for the advice. I have completed approximately 12 knives so far with 5 or 6 of those being recurve designs. While I am far from experienced, I do think that I am getting close to being able to sell blades. I refuse to sell something that I would not be proud to show off at shows or take to my mentors claiming it as my best work. I may have to make more than one or two (or 3 or 9) attempts to get it to the level of selling it as I plan on including a lifetime warranty on any knife that I sell, starting immediately.

Thegeek, I kept building on the previous designs as I went through and continued taking ideas from my customer on refining the shape. While I still have a few more to design before suggesting a final design, it is those 3 that I think I will draw from the most moving forward.

#8 looks awesome. No recurve. Take the straight line drawn on the bottom, make it sweep upward close to your original lines and make that your edge.

Thanks everyone. Anthony, nothing to be sorry about. You were trying to help which is something I still need a lot of.
