Howdy folks, I'm setting up a cnc program for doing some knives and I was wondering if, using a flood setup that has been cooled down, you could get away with milling already heat treated O1. I'm trying to avoid warp-age after the machining. I feel like I'd be playing a game with maintaining the heat treat against the heat of the cutting, but wanted to ask you folks what your thoughts were when it comes to this.

Thank you for any advice or suggestions ahead of time.

It's going to be a bitch to cut. Any time I cut hardened steel (bearing surfaces) with cnc I had to use ceramic cutters and you do not use coolant when hard milling or turning. The coolant shocks the ceramic and causes it to chip/flake. I personally would not use carbide on hardened steel. Why don't you mill and then heat treat. It's done on Lots of parts not just knives.
