I'm interested in trying my hand at forming Kydex. My impression is that it is heat-formed, and I was wondering if a normal oven is sufficient for purposes of working with it. Also, how is it done? thanks!
I heat 0.093" Kydex for 3.5 minutes in my kitchen oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. I've found that it forms nicely in those conditions. You may want to use a stopwatch. BTW, I would recommend order Allen Blade's video on synthetic sheath making. Best $13 I've spent on a video. No frills, clear, concise. I ended up getting a 6" bench vise after watching it. Now I can form sheaths a whole lot better. Allen's new website is at http://www.geocities.com/bladecutlery/blade_cutlery_site001.htm
