Worksharp PRO ! ( Next level )

Very nice!

It's awesome to see Work Sharp working hard at keeping up with the systems from outside of the US and making a really good US made sharpener available.

I'm also glad to see they have incorporated the idea of my Leading Edge magnetic platform and stabilizer that I designed for the regular Precision adjust into this upgraded system.

Well done Work Sharp!

Yes, it looks like you have contributed significantly to the new design. :)

I didn't work directly with them on this, but I'm glad to see they clearly drew some inspiration from my Leading Edge system. :-) I'm all for open sourcing and sharing ideas so it's great that Work Sharp is really actively looking what the market wants and applying it to their products.

Everybody needs to stay the hell away from these things and learn to freehand. Look up " Dyspraxia " and " Dupuytren's Contracture ". You did say " Everybody ".

Well ... There are so many ways of getting from a to B !
But to be fixated on only one way ! Isn't America supposed to be the land of the free ! Where you can do things your way ? Without overbearing Overlords telling you how to live your life ?
Isn't that why immigrants came to the Americas , to get away from such overbearing Overlords ? ( To be free )
I guess Americans no longer believe in free and are embracing Communism or what ever is the opposite of free !

Folks , do it your way ! Born free , free as the ..................... ? ( I forget the rest of it - I don't live in a free country )

Freehand sharpening is a life skill that every self-respecting knife owner absolutely should learn, period. I will not budge on that. Unless you have some disability, there is no excuse.

What are you going to do? Are you going to carry a bulky contraption with you everywhere? Are you going to wait for your knife to dull in the field, shrug and say "well I guess it's just dull."? Are you going to carry a bunch of knives so you can switch between them as they dull? Or are you going to actually learn how to sharpen them?

No excuses. No emotional appeals. Learn it.

I am not an expert in these conditions, but maybe if you lack coordination then for safety reasons you shouldn't use knives.
Hahahahahahahaha - Actually = YES !
Back in the day - Since 81 ... I was / is / as in / still am / a 3 knife guy when going bush ..
Belt knife , Mora in the bum bag , small folder in a pouch + a ceramic rod for field sharpening ..
Funny thing , I dont actually remember ever sharpening a knife in the field .. Only after coming home , for the next trip .. ( I was bush about every 2nd weekend for 20 years or so )

These days , with better performing knives in my collection .. I might consider being a two knife guy !
I don't think I will ever be a one knife guy . That's so ...........

300 is kinda steep. I'll pass. I was willing to go as high as 200. It looks pretty nice. I like the fact that it's made mostly of steel, but I'll stick with my Precision Adjust Elite system. I get hair-popping mirror edges with it. All for $120. Good luck with your sales. 👍

I agree freehand sharpening is a great skill to have and gives a person a certain freedom to sharpen anywhere. But the majority of knife users don't use a knife very much and they want a quick way to sharpen without taking the time to learn to freehand. And then there are many who have physical issues and they can get better results using a guided system.

So although I kind of enjoy freehand sharpening I see the usefulness of guided sharpeners. And I think this might be a solid option that comes in at a bit lower price that some and they seem to have included several things in a this new package.

Remember though !
What does the (?) Individual want ?
What are they chasing ?
Guided systems :
A) More accurate
B) More consistent
C) Faster
D) Cleaner
F) Less mucking about
G) Possibly longer life for the knife

If (?) the knife stays sharp longer (if) .. Then less sharpening is required
If the person uses one knife at a time (if) , then the guided system is set up and ready to go
And if (?) the guided system is set up , then less material needs to be removed to get sharp .
And if less material is removed , the knife lasts longer .

So if you use / carry $1000 pocket knives .. Extracting more life from your investment might matter (?)

But from I seem to have noticed is ..
Folks with expensive knives , Nurse the knife like crazy , then sell it or trade it for another expensive knife ... ( Apparently )
A guided system might make a lot of sense when trying to protect an investment .

Not harshing on FreeHand .. Just saying .. Guided systems are here and now ..

Much like ABS brakes .. Or should people not have ABS and learn to brake the old fashioned way !
Or maybe , no steel belted radials .. Learn to drive on cross ply first .
Or maybe hand starting engines rather than electric starters .. ( people used to die hand cranking )
Oh dear , technology just wont stand still .
Or flintlocks instead of primed cases ? No more AR15's ... Rather AR1 Flint Locks ..
Oh dear ! Lets not start making precedents ! You'l give control freaks ideas !

Anything to do with knives has become more expensive, and at $300 these are starting to get up there, but as i stated at least every attachment is included. Glad you are getting good results with your Elite system. Whatever works for you.

Good work by the Worksharp guys. I think it's a very good deal at $300. I think it would have been a GREAT deal if they had gone with a standard Edge Pro-style stone holder, but I'm certain someone will come up with a 3rd-party solution for that. ;)

I have spent a fortune on knife sharpeners from the TSProf top of the line to a Tormek with diamond wheels and a Japanese waterstone. I always end up selling them and going back to sharpening on my 2x72 grinder and paper wheels.

I'll probably give this a shot though....

As a Working Edge guy I use Paper Wheels... Takes all of 30sec to get a good toothy edge...!

Strop on leather after , to smooth it out . ( if you want it smoother )
I have recently started stropping on cardboard ,,,, It really works .. Get's a little toothy ( little ) , but a little leather stropping and it smooths out real nice .
