World's Largest Selection Of MOABs Will Be Available At Knob Creek!!!!

Hey Jerry, I know you probably don't have many extras, but if you end up with one, you could always send it back my way. I mean, look at where I live, it's only fitting;):D:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Heck, I might even have enough $ in the bank to cover shipping (as long as you don't have to send it on a pallet:p)

Who was the first to use MOAB to name a knife?

either jerry came up with it himself, or maybe a product of one of the various naming threads/contests. as far as the real "mother of all bowies" goes, I think skunks magnum ruger bowie sword takes the cake (haven't seen this series yet though, so maybe it will be dethroned  )

outside of busse combat, I don't think moab has been used as a knife name by anyone. there have been several descriptions of any given knife as "the mother of all bowies", but not used as the name itself.

Coincidentally enough, a maker just recently offered a model called MOAB. When informed that another company had used that name already, this maker called the company (no names, but I'm guessing it was Busse) and talked it over and was told it was OK to use the name. Certainly sounds like Jerry's brand of generosity.

I assume you're referring to Tim Galyean?

Murray Carter. from his latest newsletter:

"On a side note, one of my faithful readers politely pointed out to me that there was one other knifemaker who used the term MOAB for his blades also. I immediately personally contacted that knifemaker by phone and inquired whether it was a problem or not to use the same acronym. He was most gracious and said there was no problem."

I just assumed he was referring to Jerry.

Interesting.

Tim uses MOAB for one of his folder designs. It is a funky angular looking thing.

Some other folks use MOAB also," The GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb [MOAB] weapon is a 21,000 lbs total weight GPS-guided munition with fins and inertial gyro for pitch and roll control. It is probable that this munition was initially nick-named the "Mother Of All Bombs" with the retronymic expansion of MOAB following later."

And it looks like a mini nuke going off.

I knew if I looked hard enough I could find footage of Jerry sneaking those MOABs into Knob Creek.

I assumed that Jerry borrowed the MOAB name from this device.:cool:

As for the name MOAB for a knife, we were the first, that I'm aware of, to use it on a knife. Here are the original threads about the Busse MOAB.

The Busse MOAB just keeps getting bigger!!! :D

At this rate, the Busse MOAB will be 23 feet long by the time I retire. . . If you do the math, you'll realize that I don't plan on retiring until my age matches the price of the MOAB!!!!:D:thumbup:

Time for breakfast. .. Let's Drink!

Jerry :D
