Worst knife you've ever spent money on. How much was it?

I posted a Z-Hunter back at the beginning of this thread, but I believe this new "find" takes the cake.

Ladies and Gentlemen, allow myself to present the Wrench Knife!

Is it a wrench? No! Is it a knife? No! It can't perform the basic tasks of either item, hence the Wrench Knife! From the irridescent rainbow finish to the lazy assisted open, this knife-like-object (KLO) screams "trip to Urgent Care!"

This knife pioneered the patent pending "Dunno Lock". Is it locked? Is it not locked? I "DUNNO", man up and cut some cardboard to find out.

Available at the Eville Auction Site for only $8.95 USD. Hurry and git yers before they sell out or the vendor deletes their account!

Did you really buy that?

Hard to believe you had such a hard time with customer service considering I've had over 100+ Emersons and only one had and issue and they sent me a new one (and a free t-shirt) and paid for the shipping on the faulty one.

My 3 worst knives have been a Boker Scoundrel ($155 new) I really wanted to try a Steven Kelly designed knife (without paying for a $1000 custom) and loved the way it looks but it was such a bad blade, lock-rock, uneven grind, and the clip would come loose after a few times in and out of the pocket.

And the 2nd was a brand new Umnumzaan, really love the looks and blade shape on the zaan but man that thing was horrendous on so many levels......I don't even know where to start. I like to think that I got a bad one......hey, at least I got my money back!

And the 3rd was a S30v PM2, tip broke easily, wouldn't hold an edge, loose pivot, lockup was shit, I was almost starting to think it was a fake!

Unfortunately most knives are mass produced and its hard to get every single one of them perfect and we all buy so many knives that your bound to get a bad one here and there.

Very true. I never liked or was really interested in Emerson Knives, always seemed very ("Credit Card Warrior"ish) to me. I mean some people like em, but more often than not its the latter. I mean my brother got it so I wasn't gonna be a d0u$che to him and say "I don't want it". No big deal though.

I'm looking at one of the knives by Creely Blades in CPM REX 121, I hear the edge retention is boarder line "Godly" lol. So when I get the coin, I'll be snagging that.

I hate to say this, as I really wanted better ... but every knife that I have bought new from Helle have been poor. Poor finishing and general QC. Perhaps it was the distributor I was buying them from? (seconds? though they were not advertised as such.) Every one I had to return - and I really like some of their designs... but have now come to the point where I think I'll now pass on them all. It's such a waste of time, effort (and money) to try and support manufacturers that don't appear to put the right level of control into the end-product process - and it's not like Helle are low cost knives (IMO) I have knives from other manufacturers for half the price that I was completely blown away by - their fit and finish and materials are exactly what I thought you should get. Opinel wooden folders for $8 have better F&F than then Helle knives I received.

Sad (but true)

Joe.

When I was 7 or 8 I bought a "Barlow knife shaped object" made by Frost. I think it cost around $O.75? ... $0.99?
It fell in the Mississippi River ... just as far as I could throw it ... maybe a month later. (at the most)
That was the first and LAST Frost knife shaped object I ever bought or owned.

Flipper- check
Cool color- check
Reversable clip- check

Ohhh only if it was a ratchet wrench.....:D

I have bought 3 Schatt & Morgan's new, in the past year. The first purchase had issues but I kept it, the last two I would grade poorly at 100$ a pop/new. 2nd buy was a beautiful winterbottom small coke bottle; awful blade centering, and the heat treatment had the blade actually bent a handful of degrees leaning left, very noticeably-bothersome, not to mention the blade was so dull straight from factory.
The second new Shatt, a carpenters whittler new from store; winterbottom with large crack a mm long from the top, and the wharncliffe when closed was not deep enough inside the well-so it was catching my finger right out of the box. And the blade play with the smaller blade. I know now, S & M is definitely not GEC-but for what they still consider charging folks for their brand new knives, the quality has seemed to diminish a bit for some time now.

The first one I purchased is the only one I kept and didn't return-a black micarta Whittler. Not perfect, but good excuse to actually use it for small carving projects, and keep my other knife-faves safe and untouched. Main warcliffe tip ALSO catches the finger or clothing while closed, and again total blade play with smaller blade. It's annoying, but watcha gonna do? Hang with GEC.
