Well,I thought I would be the owner of a Buck Tool 360 but it wasn't meant to be.What I received from my mail carrier today, was an empty box.I can't understand how sellers think they can ship an item, even in a priority box, without taping it shut. There was a clear plastic label with printing that was rubber-banded to the box.

I hold the seller ultimately responsible because he did not properly prepare the box for shipping.

I sent the seller a request for a full refund including shipping, while he files a claim with the postal service.

Bummer. I had the same thing happen a couple of years ago and I contacted my local postmaster and gave him all of the tracking info. and photos of the item I bought. He forwarded it along to the "Loose in Mail" clerk at the USPS sorting center about 50 miles from here. They were able to find it quickly and I was a happy camper a couple days later when it arrived in a new package and luckily, undamaged. If they hadn't found it, it probably would have been sent off to Atlanta to the Postal Mail Recovery Center where it would have most likely been auctioned off as part of a lot. That would have been a shame. There's a good chance they could still find your lost 360, if the seller makes the right connections in time.

Good luck. :(

Thanks.

The box was supposed to have four items.I bought a package deal. The most important item in that deal was the Buck Tool. The box should also have contained a 112 lightweight and its sheath and some junk Chinese knife.

My postal carrier left two phones numbers for me to call ,so I'll pursue that as well.

I still hold the seller responsible because I consider it irresponsible to ship a box without taping it closed.

Thanks for your response.

If you bought off of ebay make sure you tell them about it also...

And the whole problem could have been avoided with s simple piece of tape. Poor packaging for sure.
I have received a package or two like that but was lucky the box did not open up.

I sent the seller a PM with pictures of the empty box and the note from the post office.I'll give him an opportunity to make it right before I contact ebay.

It's disappointing to know that a few pennies worth of tape could have prevented this problem.

"Penny wise and dollar foolish"

Get them involved now so they can monitor what the seller does, it'll help if the seller is a flake...

my mailman told me the cheapest insurance is tape---and I use tape----bopp tape --get it on feebay by the case 96 cents a roll...

I always make certain that my sellers do not put anything knife related on the box or on the custom's form (I do not ask them to lie, but use a synonym that means the same) because packages get "accidentally" damaged so that the items are "lost" if it is anything of interest. After I started doing that I have had no more incidents. Odd, that.

This is an update.Ebay disallowed my claim. They stated that because he provided a tracking number they will do nothing. It appears that a seller can ship an empty box as long as he supplies a tracking number.I have proof that I received an empty box.Where is the sellers proof that he actually shipped anything in that box?

Something doesn't sound right? Dispute the charges thru PP and your CC company....

That response you got from ebay sounds like a late shipment response... Call during the day reg business hours for PST. Remember you're probably will be talking to someone in the Philippines...

It was shipped in a priority mail flat rate box which comes with an automatic $50 insurance so USPS should give you the amount you paid for the item or $50 whichever is the least.
Ebay should however give you the money back in full because of the poor packaging and entire loss of contents.

I opened another request for return of payment. This time I stated "I received an item that does not match the seller's description".I was advised to file in this manner by another member.

The first time I filed a request I started the process with "I haven't received it yet."

There are only two choices they provide when you ask them to solve a problem through the resolution center.

1)I haven't received it yet.

2)I received an item that does not match the seller's description.

We'll see if this works.

Thanks for the advice so far.

I'm shocked at eBay's response!!! :eek::eek::eek:
Their policy has been:
"The Seller Can Do No Right; The Buyer Can Do No Wrong!"
for almost twenty years now.

Give the seller a negative feedback if he does not refund your money. That will stick on him for as long as he uses eBay.
Sellers cannot give negative feedback on a buyer. eBay quit allowing that back in 2006 or 2007.

Contest the charge on your card at the bank.

Don't buy from a private seller on eBay again.

The seller likely has no proof he put anything in the box when he mailed it off.

Some information regarding the seller's previous feedback ratings might be helpful here.
