What do you dislike most about your favorite brands?

I'll start:
Benchmade: everything seems 20% more expensive, F&F not reliable
Cold Steel: not much is made in USA, two hands needed to close tri-ad
Zero Tolerance: newer knives are too exotic, horrible knife names

These are my three favorite brands even with these perceived weaknesses. Hoping we can keep this thread from spiraling negative!

Welcome to Blade Forums, generally threads like this do not end well. Folks will defend their favorite brand and haters will hurl insults on their least favorite company. Better off saying I really like this brand and model because of this feature ....

+1 Agree.

My thread about my initial thoughts on sebenzas turned into a preschool playground battle and I didnt even disrespect the knives just said they were not for me. So yeah threads like this can go souty quick op.

Zero tolerance , their name
Spyderco , that hole they put in every blade
Barkriver , those thumb ramps
Esse, 1095
Coldsteel , Lynn Thompson
Chris Reeves , their prices
Fallkniven , those handles
Buck, made in China
Sog, their availability

hope I wasn't taken too seriously , that's all I could think of

To the OP, above comments about this type of opinion thread are sad, but accurate. I believe a forum should be a place for positive and negative views. But with human nature what it is, it only takes a few haters to fudge up things.

They are too thick BTE and ran too soft.

*BTE thickness doesn't count for most traditional knife companies, and too soft doesn't count for Rockstead.

I dislike when someone dislike knife/brand only because it's name or country of production.

Smith & Wesson: Too much focus on AOs and blade lengths > 3"
Schrade: Too much focus on AOs and blade lengths > 3"
Sanrenmu: Too freakin difficult to get nowadays and lineup changes without notice

Good job with your first thread, VS. Even people who get their feelings hurt by this kind of thread still enjoy participating. And the rest of us really enjoy it.

Benchmade. Overpriced.
Zero Tolerance. Only flippers.
Cold Steel. Some excellent models have no option for uncoated blades.
Spyderco. Most new models are expensive relative to their older models, which are bargains.

Benchmade: overpriced for the quality that you get (I only had one, but it wasn't a great example of fit and finish. I know there are good ones too, so don't roast me)
Spyderco: hole makes the knife wider than I'd like
ZT: I wish they had more models with ~3.5" blades that weren't so heavy (here's looking at you 0801ti)

Victorinox: No tweezers or toothpick in alox scales
Case: Discontinued some of my favorite patterns
GEC: Not enough offerings in stainless steel, hard to acquire because of increased demand

I probably carry on too much about this but I hate it when Benchmade puts assist (or auto for that matter) on AXIS locks. It takes one of the most ingenious and easy one-handed opening/closing lock designs and defeats the purpose (IMO) by making it impossible to flick closed with one hand, and it doesn't even open any faster or more authoritatively than you can do by just engaging the lock

True, working on my thumb / index finger strength / callouses so I can get there!! :D
No need, press the bar using your thumb joint, not the tip. Way easier. Ready your index finger right behind the finger choil to catch the blade when it falls. They're designed to do that.

Benchmade-expensive and I'm pretty lukewarm about the Axis lock now.
ESEE blocky scales and finger choils on everything but the ESEE Junglas. I've never been wild about their ergonomics
Winkler- have they ever made a knife that wasn't horribly asymmetrical at the tip?
Microtech-I hope I never have to use their warranty. I wish they had more consistent steel offerings.

Spyderco: discontinues the models that I really like but never got a chance to checkout. ( Captain model, I loved this model)
