I was reading the latest issue of Combat Knives and saw the WORTAC 1. Looks like a really nice knife! Anyone had their hands on one yet?

Oh yes. Radical but excellent design. In my book, it ranks up there with the KFF. The only sad part is that I have yet to handle one. But a picture is worth a thousand words and the design speaks of real experience.

I got to play with one at the recent Chicago Knife Show. Tad bigger than the KFF, silky smooth, great feeling handle...Pat Crawford had three Wortacs on the table, two with damascus blades, really beautiful knives. Pocket clip was different from the pic in the mag though. It was one of those deep pocket clips attached to the butt end. Oh yeah, one of the handles was a sweet looking red micarta, and the other was a blue!

Of course, I'm saving up for one to go with my titanium KFF!!

How does it compare to the Carnivour, besides the obvious difference in the butt of the grip? Bigger? The blade design looks almost identical.

I got one from Hammerheadknives last week. Awesome. Well-balanced in the hand and with usual Crawford craftsmanship.

The only unusual thing is that the lock release is so recessed that my thumb couldn't reach it, so I couldn't close this knife with one hand. I don't know whether it's the same for all of them ?

Nevertheless, if I have to pick between this and the Carnivore, my choice is the latter. Rolling lock gives me the peace of mind.

Alright...I'll try to explain this as well as possible. I got my KFF from Mr. Crawford himself at a knife show, and he taught me how to close those recessed liner locks as taught to him by Mr. Bob Kasper. You close the knife while still holding it in the saber grip, unlocking the liner with you INDEX finger. Use your thumb/index finger to begin closing the knife, and finish closing the knife by pressing the BACK of the blade against your leg, drawing it across your upper thigh, until you reach your front pocket, and then clip it inside. Mr. Crawford says that Kasper's class practices this drawing and closing hundreds of times.

Hope this makes sense.

Got it. Thanks! Why didn't I think of using the index finger before?

I couldn't reach the back of the blade with my thumb due to my small hand, but pressing the back of blade on my thigh works well.
