Worth my time?

Honestly, I wasn't sure what forum to post this in, so bear with me.

Last week I ordered two knives from BladeHq, the customer service was excellent, I did NOT have a problem with BladeHq. Where I did have problems with the order was with USPS. Using the USPS tracking website, my package arrived in town Monday around 2am, was sorted and out to delivery by 9am, so I was expecting my knives the same day. The mail came and went, no package. I contacted the local post office around 1pm and the lady on the phone said "the status was system generated, you should get them tomorrow", so I thought no big deal, I'll wait and see if they turn up. Around 2pm, I receive an e-mail from BladeHq titled "Shipping Error", great I think. To make a long story short, USPS delivered my package to a Flooring Company a couple blocks away from where I live. Apparently, someone that works there has the same name as I do, and the mail carrier dropped it off there. Luckily for me, the guy was totally cool and honest about it, and I have my knives tonight.

My question is, do I/should I contact the post office tomorrow and complain? I'm not the type to usually do such a thing, I understand people make mistakes, but to blatantly ignore an address on a package, and deliver to someone just because they have the same name as I do really rubs me the wrong way. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever complained/filed a complaint with the postal service has it done any good, and is it even worth my time? The knives weren't very expensive, but the thought of loosing out on a couple of knives that I spent my hard earned money on is frustrating, especially when there is nothing I can do about it.

Sorry for the rant, and thanks for any input!

, I understand people make mistakes, but to blatantly ignore an address on a package,

The person who delivered your package probably thought they were delivering it to the right person. The only way for them to learn is to bring something up with the post office, otherwise they may continue to do it. Hell, who knows if this is the first time they've done it? I would definitely let them know, if only because they could deliver a bill, notice of eviction or something else important to the wrong guy.

My postal carrier often puts my mail in the neighboring mailboxes and vice versa. I've told the post office about it more than once and he's still doing it. A monkey could do as good of a job as he does. He probably can drive better though. At least he has that much going for him.

I'd call and mention it, just to make sure it won't happen again.

Then again I'm blessed with a mailman who is competent, cares about this job and customers, and is just an all around nice guy!

Same here. The mail carrier here is a very cool guy, arrives early and I have not received any one elses mail in the 6 years I've been at my address.

I am lucky, my mail lady is great! All my she needs is my name and it will make it to me. Sometimes it will get messed up if there is a sub in for her, but not often.

I think this was a case where the mail carrier knew the name and thought he was delivering to the right person. I'd bet he was looking at the name and not the address.

Find the name of your route courier, contact him/her and introduce yourself so that this doesn't happen again. Don't make a big deal about it and don't sound like you are complaining. It sounds like an honest mistake.

Go to the USPS office it came out of, and speak with the supervisor. Tell them what happened, and that you are concerned it could happen again since the guy has the same first name. He will/should then mention it to the carrier, and I dought it will happen again.

Or thats what I would do anyway. It was a simple mistake, but that may keep it from happening again.

I recently moved into a new apartment. Never had a problem with USPS...until I moved. I get all of my mail...except my packages. I've had several sent to me, maybe four or five, and have yet to receive a one of them. Worse yet the tracking info says notice left...and I've yet to receive a notice. I always have to go to the post office and explain what's going on. I've spoken to two higher ups and still don't know why I am not receiving packages. If something is sent to me without a tracking number or without my knowledge I am s.o.l.

I suggest talking to someone in charge, but in my experience it hasn't done any good.
