Hi to all,

I always seem to gravitate to traditional pocket knife patterns as well as sheath knife designed patterns I cannot get any more. .

Here is one that came to mind right away.. The old Birdseye Stockman pattern.? I use to love this one at 3 1/4 inch closed, a lot of cutting tool and light weight EDC for the money..

Anyone else here have a favorite pattern they would like to see revived?.. MMMM.?

Yeah, some good scout knives would be nice. Jigged bone, maybe even stag. Plain old 1095 blades/tools. I'd love to see some nice old scouts that would make an old scout master proud to carry.

Yeah, the original, classic, two-pen-blade, Wharncliffe Whittler, as rendered by Holley.

Case evidently did a limited run of something very similar, but in stainless.

It's very like the Seahorse, but with two pen blades rather than pen/coping blade.

Or maybe someone out there is actually making that precise pattern and I just haven't seen it.

Very accurate depiction AG!.

Hows about this old pattern. An Easy Open Jack 2 blade pattern that I would just love to see from anyone these days. . This one is a vintage KUTMASTER..

OK Jimbo,

You beat me to the pattern photographs, and as usual you have much more (and better examples:thumbup:) of what looks like the old Saddlehorn pattern knives!

Thank You Sir!!

Anthony

Don't have all of them now, that was a family photo and some have left home. One to Mike Robuck and I forgot who else got one. The guy asked for a link to finding that pattern and I sold it to him, he had carried it for years and lost it. So, the family is smaller now.
Thanks for the compliment. I do wish Case would do one in stag or even a yellow handle. I just like the pattern.
Jim

BTW: Maybe Tony Bose would do it, now that would be the Cat's Meow!!!

Thanks Partner,

This is good stuff!!.

I'd like to see the Case Loom Fixer and Tadpole get back in the line up. I don't have any good photos of them, but I owned both and enjoyed them as working knives.

In the market today there are plenty of knives for workmen, plenty of mall-ninja fantasy products, and an abundance of wannabe-operator military-ish knives. But there's a huge gap in the area of regular traditional gents' knives. For example...

I'm a huge fan of the senator pattern. But modern production models are few and far between, and none in carbon steel. Queen has a real beauty, but only in low-end stainless and they didn't get the pen blade 'right':

Lobster pattern knives are also rare, would be great if Case or Queen would release one with a couple of handle choices and in 1095 carbon steel.

Here's another not seen in a while, an equal end whittler jack. A real worker disguised as a gent's knife:

A couple come to mind. Definitely the Case XX fly fishing knife and also the old Texas Lockhorn.

Arfin Greebly, Sir the 2 Seahorse whittlers ( If I'm calling them correctly). Are in fact Case Classics. Not produced by Case but by Queen Cutlery. The year of manufacture can be read on the Tangs. I believe them to be 1095 Carbon Steel and make fine knives for carving.

I've got one of those -- specifically the third one from the bottom. I never knew much about the pattern, only that I really like the knive. You don't know what kind of wood that is, do you?

Thanks,

Jim

I would go look, but that is the one I sold to the guy who had lost his.:(
I remember something like pakawood, perhaps we can get Charlie to answer, he knows most all the old ones. I will send him a PM to the post and ask for help.

I don't know for sure Jim. It looks like a relative of Honduras Mahogany, but viewing it on screen is dicey at best, for IDing it. Is it laminated??
Ask Case!!

Thanks you guys.

It doesn't look laminated, like the one above it in the picture. Maybe it is Pakkawood. It looks similar in texture to an old Kabar folding hunter I have that I know is Pakkawood. They both look kind of shimmery in direct light, probably due to all the resin in the PW. Color is a little different, but that doesn't matter because PW is always dyed anyway.

Well it doesn't matter so much, I just thought someone might know. Maybe I'll e-mail the picture to Case (with James Todd's permission) and see what they say. If I find out of course I'll report back here.

Thanks again!

Jim

Only one I can think of right now that I have seen and wanted, and can't get cause they quite making them; Cripple Creek Blood Brothers Barlow... that by Case or even better, by Queen in carbon :)

I'm sure there are others I am forgetting, but thats the first one that I thought of.

Ask Case!!

That one he is asking about is NOT laminated, the one above is.
Thanks for the input.
