Would anyone else want a larger PM2?

I'm guessing it's just unconciously defensive of the threat of another model encroaching on the turf of their beloved Millies.

Nope nothing can touch the greatness that is the Military

:D:cool:

If they made a larger PM2 I would buy one, just because I like the PM2 also.

But I would rather see Golden's production go to totally new designs, and their mainstays. Rather than a "stretched" PM2. I already own all the Golden Models that intrest me.

I think the Military is a fine replacement if you want a larger Para. I dislike liner locks but I love and trust the one on the Military. It's a great knife as is, and I think with the Military and the Police models you don't need another one with a 4"+ blade.

+1 on the mini! Probably an uncommon opinion, but the PM2 as it is is actually a little bit too big for my purposes. Love the compression lock though, so I'd be down for anything with a compression lock and a practical EDC blade.

You mean a Millie with a compression lock? It would be nice...although I'd like more compression lock folders in general! :)

Me too! I was unsure about it at first but now its my favorite lock. Would love to see it used more.

i thought i would chime-in hear, being that i just go my para 2 in the mail box today! its the regular modal with black G10/silver blade and wow do i love the blade shape on this knife, but i mostly carry a native 5 with me at all times and think its more practical for EDC then a para 2! for me that is,maybe over time when i have had a chance to carry the para 2 i'll come to like it more! but i really would love to see a mid size para in the sage 1 or native 5 size range,i bet it would be a best seller for spyderco! i really like the para 2 but not for EDC,just my 2 cents.

Rather than a larger PM2, I would like to see a new version of the Military that allows a tip up carry, and with the same compression lock mechanism as the PM2.

That and tip down carry. I never understood tip down, anyone care to explain the potential benefit of it?
To answer the OP question, yes, I do want a larger (XL) PM2. I'm pretty disappointed they decided to make the PM3 a mini version before the XL version. This is intended to be a self defense knife isn't it? Larger make sense, smaller doesn't...

I use to be.a tip down guy, started carrying tip up when I bought an Endura. To me, I feel as though I can get the knife open quicker and my grip needs less adjustment vs tip down carry.

Seems to me there are plenty of nice 3 inch folders ou there.

I don't think SD is an intended primary use or appeal of the PM3... more so sale and availability to markets where >3" blades are illegal. Don't be disappointed.

Also, staying light weight is a big concern for the Military, so it does not need full liners for its rather large handle. Since there is no liner down at the butt of the handle, there is no material there to tap into just for clip screw holes. I'd rather have a lighter Millie than ability to have a clip for tip up. I can adapt.

The ONLY reason I don't have a Paramilitary 2 is that the main grip area is just too small for my hands. I've bought and sold 3 because everything else about the knife, steel grind shape weight lock etc, is awesome. I even considered grinding down the g10 on the butt area.

The Military is great, but I'm not a fan of the strange rounded area between the main grip and choil, I prefer the compression lock, and I strongly prefer tip up carry (especially since the Military sits so high in the pocket).

I'm not necessarily talking about the PM3, the PM was originally designed to be a self defense knife from what I understand (I may be completely wrong) but it's obviously changed over time turning into a EDC and collectors piece but going up in size makes much more sense than downsizing, to me anyway. There are already soo many very very nice ~3" knives to choose from but the options are far slimmer in a <$200 price range when you move up to 4" blades. I guess I'm just butthurt they made the PM3 the opposite of what I was hoping for. The PM2 is very close to ideal already but the handle is a tad on the small side in my average sized hands and I just naturally like a little larger blade. Good thing we have so many choices already!

On the military the extra ounce or whatever little amount it'd be would be negligible to me, i can adapt to the small weight increase :), tip down carry i find is much harder to get used to ans i prefer all of my knives to be similar in opening thats why every knife i carry has some type of thumb hole and tip up carry weather its a spydie or benchmade. I've seen and own multiple knives with inserts for the clip screws right in the scale (no liner to tap) and they're not noticeably weaker than say my PM2 where the the steel liner is tapped for the screws.

Either way what works for me doesn't have to work for you and vice versa, that's why I love having so many high quality choices out there.
