Hey all,

I work a Midas, and sometimes come across a set of coil springs or leaf springs, witch is always a good score for a knife maker, everybody thinks I'm crazy. Anyway I fixed a cars busted ball joint today and was wondering what steel the stud of the ball joint was made of. Would it be good to make a knife with. If anyone knows it would be great if you could give some info. Here's the piece I'm talking about, there's more that enough material to move around and make a small knife. Thanks.

Not likely. It is probably 4130 o 4140. Atleast the ball joint I bought for my project car were.

Could make a decent ball pein hammer, though.
